PCK Joins Tree Planting Initiative in West Pokot
The Physiotherapy Council of Kenya today took a proactive role in advancing environmental sustainability by participating in a major tree planting exercise at Kamatira Forest – Lelan Forest in West Pokot County. This initiative, carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the West Pokot County Government, and the local community, marks PCK’s firm commitment to supporting Kenya’s climate goals.
With the theme of environmental stewardship at its core, the event brought together various stakeholders under a shared mission: to restore forest cover and support Kenya’s ambitious plan to plant 15 billion trees by 2032.
PCK joined the day-long effort on the ground, actively taking part in planting indigenous tree species across the degraded areas of Kamatira Forest. Through this initiative, PCK reaffirmed its belief that health is not only about physical well-being, but also about living in a clean, safe, and sustainable environment.
“As a regulatory body committed to promoting the health of all Kenyans, PCK understands that a healthy population depends on a healthy environment. Participating in this tree planting exercise is part of our broader vision to contribute to national development and climate resilience,” said a PCK representative during the event.
The Council also took the opportunity to engage with local community members, emphasizing the importance of environmental conservation and encouraging sustained efforts in tree growing and forest protection.
By planting trees today, PCK is investing in the future—supporting both environmental sustainability and public health in one bold step.
